Angela (Angie) Cantwell, MSN, RN, Chief Executive Officer/Managing Director
Angie joins Friends Hospital from Jefferson-Einstein where she served as the Director of the Crisis Response Center, the Clinical Director of Nursing and the Administrator of Psychiatry. Her 30+ years of clinical and administrative experience will be an asset to Friends.

“I am pleased to join the Friends team,” said Angie. “As a lifelong resident of Philadelphia, I am incredibly proud to be part of the Friends legacy. I look forward to growing the culture of safety and quality- in practice and in presence- with patients as a top priority. It is equally important for me to support Friends uncompromised standards, community investment, and staff development.”

Angie attended Hahnemann University, Temple University and Western Governor’s University, studying Psychology and Nursing. She earned her master’s degree in nursing from Western Governor’s University.

Dr. Marukh Siddiqui Khan
Chief Medical Officer

Dr. Khan joined Friends Hospital in 2003, demonstrating exceptional leadership and clinical expertise in her roles as Unit Medical Director and Medical Director for the Greystone Program.

With more than two decades of dedication to our patients, staff and mission, Dr. Khan brings a deep understanding of our hospital’s commitment to clinical excellence, patient-centered care and innovative behavioral health treatment. Her leadership will be instrumental in advancing our efforts to provide the highest-quality care and foster a culture of safety, compassion and collaboration.

Adia Presley-Ruff, RN, BSN
Chief Nursing Officer

Since 2012, Adia has applied her extensive experience as a mental health professional and registered nurse to Friends Hospital. Adia went on to achieve her BSN and has ascended to various roles in nursing leadership. Adia is committed to engaging with staff while ensuring that our patients receive the excellent care that they deserve. Aida has a BSN from Chamberlain University and is actively pursuing her MSN.

Tanya Bond, Director of Human Resources

Tanya Bond joined Friends Hospital as Director of Human Resources in January 2022 with more than 20 years’ experience providing HR support for healthcare organizations and other large corporations. She has worked in various areas of human resource management including union relations, high-volume, full-cycle recruitment, and training and development, among others. Prior to joining Friends, Tanya spent several years as Labor Relations Manager for AVI Foodsystems at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. Tanya holds a B.S. from Drexel University and an M.S. in Human Resource Management from Holy Family University.

Diandra Thompson, MSS, LSW, Director of Social Services

Diandra joined Friends Hospital in 2024 after obtaining over 15 years of experience. She has a strong background in leadership and most recently worked at Resources for Human Development (RHD). She has a master’s degree from Bryn Mawr College and has a passion for patient-centered care and collaboration.

Hannah Olanoff, MSS, LCSW, Director of Clinical Services

Hannah joined Friends Hospital in 2024 after spending eight years at Einstein Medical Center as the Outpatient Clinic and Rehab Services Coordinator. Hannah has a passion for providing therapeutic care to patients and has extensive experience as an administrative operator for clinics in behavioral health.

Sheryl Stern, RN, BSN, Director of Utilization Management

Sheryl Graduated from Widener University with a BSN. Her first experience at Friends was as a student nurse doing my psych nursing rotation. Sheryl served as a psychiatric nurse on the adolescent unit at Friends Hospital for 3+years back in the mid 80’s. Sheryl has had the privilege of having multiple roles in behavioral health that include:
The Assistant nurse manager at MCP Bucks County and then was promoted to the Child/Adol Nurse Manager at MCP/EPPI. She also worked in Utilization Management at the Philadelphia Child Guidance Center at CHOP.

Sheryl has been doing Utilization Management at Friends since 2005, she became the Lead Care Manager in 2010 and the Director of the department in 2017.

Andrea Ottaviano, Director of Performance Improvement

After graduating with a degree in Education from Millersville University, Andrea found a home in behavioral health. She has ten years of Quality and Performance Improvement, which started during her time working with adolescents in residential treatment and psychiatric facilities. Andrea and her team led the transition to electronic medical records at Friends and continue to work with the Cerner Team to optimize the EMR.

Mark Kern, Pharm.D., Director of Pharmacy

With 44 years’ experience in clinical and managerial roles, Mark oversees the administration of the Friends Hospital pharmacy, to attain best practice pharmaceutical care delivery. Raised in Lake Charles, Louisiana, Mark graduated from the University of Maryland at Baltimore Pharmacy School in 1978 and entered his Administrative residency at the Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore. He later served as a Coast Guard Auxiliary Reserve Lieutenant-Junior Grade Information Officer from 1991-93. Mark obtained his PharmD from the Maryland School of Pharmacy after completing his clinicals at the VAMC-Baltimore in 1996. He is Board Certified in Anticoagulation (CACP)’06 & Geriatrics (CGP)’98. Mark currently resides with his wife Josephine in Montgomery County, PA. He has two sons, two stepdaughters and five grandchildren that reside in Pennsylvania, Maryland, North Dakota and the United Kingdom.

Antwan Crawford Director of Nursing Education

Since 2018, Antwan has applied his extensive experience as a registered nurse in an inpatient setting to educate direct-care staff at Friends Hospital. As a dedicated and knowledgeable nurse educator with more than 10 years’ of service in health care, Antwan is committed to delivering effective instructional and theory background and helping develop better onboarding experiences for new hires, preparing them to become successful health care providers at the hospital and in the future. Prior to coming to Friends, Antwan worked at The Horsham Clinic in Ambler, PA, from 2010-18, with varying roles including as a charge nurse and admissions nurse.

Antwan began his career in education at Teach for America, where served for two years leading seventh grade students at a middle school in Philadelphia. While working in case management and supervisory roles at several behavioral health organizations, Antwan began nursing school, eventually graduating with honors in 2009 from the Community College of Philadelphia.

Antwan has a BA in Sociology from Furman University and a Graduate Certificate in Education from the University of Pennsylvania.

Gregory Artis, CTRS, Director of Expressive Arts Therapy

Greg joined Friends Hospital in 2021 after 20-plus years as a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist and Director of Therapeutic Recreation for various behavioral health facilities throughout the US. He currently leads a team of expressive arts therapists who run art, music and recreational groups in the hospital’s eight units, offering patients an alternative to traditional talk therapy and providing new tools to help them heal, both inside and outside of the therapeutic setting.

Greg is a graduate of Middle Tennessee State University in Therapeutic Recreation and Sociology.

Reginald Smith, Director of Plant Operations

Reginald Smith has been working in the building maintenance trade for 25 years. He graduated from Orleans Tech in 2002 with a degree in building maintenance that included specialties in HVAC, electrical, masonry and carpentry. Throughout his career he has worked in nursing homes, independent living communities, prisons, and rehabilitation facilities. With experience in new construction and maintenance of existing buildings Reginald has encountered just about every situation imaginable. He is responsible for the upkeep of all buildings and grounds at Friends Hospital, ensuring we are keeping both patients and staff safe. He joined the team in January of 2023 and has been a great addition to our leadership staff. When not working Reginald enjoys spending time with his family, being married for 26 years and has 3 daughters and 2 grandchildren.
