If you or a loved one will be participating in an inpatient program at Virginia Beach Psychiatric Center, prepare for the stay by reading our packing list and our list of contraband items.

- Aluminum cans (including soda cans)
- Any product with alcohol as one of the top three ingredients
- Baby powder
- Balloons
- Belts, clothes with drawstrings, shoe laces and scarves
- Bleach and other volatile substances
- Camouflage clothing
- Cigars, cigarettes, e-cigarettes and dip
- Drugs, alcohol and liquids containing alcohol
- Drug paraphernalia
- Drug-related or sexually oriented material
- Electronic equipment of any kind
- Exercise weights
- Extension cords
- Flip-flops
- Glass items
- Hand-held fans
- Hangers (metal or plastic)

*Note: For safety of the patient, other items may be deemed contraband by staff and will not be permitted for use by the patient.
